Last Day Reflections

Last Day Reflections
  • What did you learn about photography that you did not know before? -By taking this class I learned many knew things about photography. I remember just the other day I was looking at a magazine and noticed that a photo of one of my favorite stars was a silhouette. I know that before taking this class I never would have noticed something like that. It would have just been any ordinary picture to me, I normally only notice the model in a photo, but this time I noticed the photography. After seeing the photo my memory and the difficulty I went through trying to get that perfect silhouette and then the feeling of accomplishment I had when I finished, flashed through my mind and I couldn't help but  wonder how that photographer did it, was it easy for them? Hard? Exciting? How bright was the light they used? I'm viewing the world in a completely different way than before and I never could've imagined that just one class could have so much of an effect on me.

  • What did you learn about yourself this semester? -This semester I learned that if I put enough effort into it, I can take an amazing photo. I didn't think I was capable of taking many of the photos I took, and yes sometimes I did struggle in the process. But in the end it was all worth it and this just proves that with a little effort any one can be a photographer.

  • What do you wish we had done that we did not? -If I could've chosen something for us to do that we did not it would probably just be more panoramas. I thought it was just the most amazing thing when I finished my panorama and probably showed 50 people who were all extremely confused at how I did it but also very impressed.

  • What was your struggle? -Probably my biggest struggles in this class would be working in the dark room. One thing that we did in the dark room that I had an extremely hard time with was opening the film in the dark. My fingers must have been burning for the rest of the day.

  • What did you conquer? -Turning a boring ordinary object into a beautiful masterpiece with the right lighting and the press of a button.

Direct Light

It was very difficult to take this photo with only one hand while setting up a flash light. Im sure it would be a lot better if I had three hands. But still I admire it.
I really admired the way this photo shined on it's shadow. I wan't sure how well it's shadow would turn out because it is see through.

This photo was difficult to take because it was too dark and i couldn't see the shadow very well at first. I then decided to turn on a light in a room near the one i was in.

This is a fake rose from Las Vegas. I thought it would make a good picture and casted a pretty decent shadow.

I didn't know if this picture would work because it lights up. But it ended up working pretty well.

Silhouette

I wasn't sure if using a key in this photo will work because of the holes and the light sinking through. But after I tried it I realized that it looks fine. That's what I admire most about this photo.

I'm not sure it is is obvious, but this is a sea horse. It was a necklace, which made it very difficult to keep still. It wanted to swing and turn around.

This is a Tualatin letter I got from Lacrosse.  I thought it would be cool to see the high schools logo in a silhouette.

This is a bow for your hair. I thought it would be cool to see the outline of a bow in the picture.

This photo is of a rose. I really admire roses and I think this silhouette may be my favorite.

This is a photo of my mother and my dog. It takes place in my family room in front of the fireplace. My mom is always hugging my dog, she is a big animal person, which is why I took this photo. In fact we just got a new puppy.
This picture is of my mother and my bird. My bird loves to sing and dance, he just bobs his head to a song my mom made up. Once again my mom is a big animal person.

My mom has just about a BILLION candles, which is what inspired me to take this photo. I couldn't decide whether I liked in black and white or with color, so I used both.

My mom doesn't drink tea very often, actually she never does. But I wanted to give her a elegant, and almost preppy look in this photo.

I love the way you can see the steam coming up from the cup. I didn't actually fill the cup up with a hot beverage like tea or coffie. I used boiling water and had my mom give me an exhausted face. like she's finally getting to relax after a long hard day.

I believe these pictures easily describe my personality. It shows I am a little reserved because I am not smiling in many of them, but i'm not frowning either. The pictures are almost mysterious, and show a lot of emotion.
